When we compare 2 variables without taking into consideration their types we get something like:

// all true
1 == '1';
1 == [1];
'1' == [1];
// all false
1 === '1';
1 === [1];
'1' === [1];

As well as a type, each value also has an inherent boolean value, generally known as either truthy or falsy.

The following values are always falsy:

  • false
  • 0
  • '' or ""
  • null
  • undefined
  • NaN

You can see…

As you probably know JavaScript is a dynamically typed programming language that means that variables can change their types in runtime and this can be a bug source if you don’t understand why this happens.

Operators and functions automatically convert the values given to them to the right type. For example, when we use alert() all the values going to be converted to a string.

Let’s examine each of the most possible of them that you can meet in the code:

Boolean type conversion

Boolean conversion is the simplest one.

  • 0, NaN, undefined, null, "" are converting to false
  • everything else, including objects…

These days Web Components is a natural way to build User Interfaces in the Web. The three most popular frameworks (Angular, React, and Vue.js) use this as an architectural piece. Do you know that we can use this pattern using only Web Platform APIs and the result are pieces that we can reuse in all our Frontend Projects? This article will show you how to make your fist Native Web Component and how to use it with Angular, React, and Vue.

What are Web Components?

Web components, at a high-level, are isolated pieces (kind of blocks) for the User Interface (UI) that can communicate…

JS is a dynamically typed language, and this can be confusing if you are coming from a statically typed language like C, C++, or Java.

Look at the following example in Java.

int myNum = 5; // Integer (whole number)
float myFloatNum = 5.99f; // Floating point number
char myLetter = 'D'; // Character
boolean myBool = true; // Boolean
String myText = "Hello"; // String

JavaScript is the most popular technology around the world, according to Stack Overflow Developer Survey in 2019.

JavaScript is everywhere since Web Browsers until IoT devices, and that is why is essential have a piece of proper knowledge about the basics behind of these systems and what happens under the hood each time that we develop an App in one of the JS flavors (Angular, Vue.js, React, Express, etc.).

In the following diagrams, we can see a high-level architecture for a Web Browser and a Server running Node.js.
